Getting San José Back to Basics
More effective government requires that engaged and informed residents are holding our elected leaders accountable every day — so our government is delivering on the basics, like addressing the homelessness crisis, getting smarter about fighting crime, cleaning our streets and creating an economy that works for all of us.
Getting Government Back to Basics
We are dedicated to helping create an informed and engaged community that is empowered to advocate effectively for a better, evidence-based government.
We will do this in numerous ways, by:
Informing residents
Training community leaders to become their own strongest advocates
— giving them the training and tools they need to promote positive actions such as increasing voter registration and participation and running for elected office.
Curating, commissioning & sharing important research
on what works, and doesn’t work, when it comes to government and other programs that we are funding with our tax dollars.
Bringing residents together
so they can share ideas, learn from each other, and build the kind of social capital that strengthens our communities.
Creating public seminars & webinars
that allow our community to hear about common-sense solutions working in other communities so we can adapt them for our own benefit.

Our goal is to organize at least 50,000 “Founding Members” who will help us fund our mission with their small-dollar donations and volunteer efforts, and to support these members in their work to get government back to basics.
