Yes – I support common sense reforms to address retail theft, fentanyl dealing, and bringing back tools to require treatment!
A California initiative called Prop. 47 that passed in 2014 made thefts under $950 a misdemeanor – contributing to a dramatic rise in retail thefts today. And with just a misdemeanor charge, judges and prosecutors can’t use the threat of jail time to require those who desperately need drug and alcohol treatment to seek that treatment. It is time to reform Prop. 47 to address the crisis of retail thefts and make sure those who need to be in treatment are receiving that treatment.
We are coming together to tell our state and local leaders — it's time to reform Prop 47 by passing Prop 36 this November.
